The body of a ballet dancer, shaped by decades of discipline and inscribed with movement as a living archive, carries the legacy of society within its muscles. Yet the profession’s time is fleeting, with retirement often at 38. By foregrounding the beauty and value of the mature body, we question the assumption that dance belongs only to the young. The work consists of four personal stories of ballet artists from Perm who ended their dance careers in theatres and their lives after retirement — life after dance.
